Future of Internet

I was not there to experience the early days of the internet but a pretty early user, around 2005 we used to have a dial-up at my dad's office and the internet in those days was a pretty rare thing in my city

Then we moved on to CDMA dongle, back to dial up, DTH and finally to fiber; I've been here long enough to know the past and see it evolving and it's not good.

My biggest concern is the control big tech have on it, but their revenue model mostly revolves around ADS; That is where we attack first, if you use a desktop/laptop download the UBlock extension and on androids "To change the DNS, go to Settings > Network and Internet > Advanced > Private DNS. Choose the option Private DNS Provider Hostname, and enter "dns.adguard.com" or "us.adhole.org", and hit Save. That's it. You'll no longer see any in-app ad banners, nor any advertisements on web browsers."[XDA]

Next step is to avoid data collection, first step would be to move to Firefox or Epiphany then replace the big tech services with close replacements like Mastodon to replace Meta and Twitter. or Gmail with your own IMPS/SMTP (I can provide an email on my domain on a no-profit-no-loss basis) but still there are things like Youtube, Google Serch that cannot be easily replaced without downgrading productibity
